How to get started on your Tennis Ladder

What to do first?

The first thing that you need to do is to sign up with TennisLadders.NET. All you have to do is go to the login section in the top right hand corner of the page and select, ‘Not a Member?’ This will bring you to the registration screen where you simply have to enter a few personal details. The login section in the top right hand corner will then become the area where you will log in when you re-visit the site in the future. Within the registration screen, you will see a box that says playing level. Click the help box and enter your skill level according to the different level descriptions. Following that you must insert your country and if in the United States, your ZIP code. This will allow you to select the ladder that is located closest to you. If no ladder exists in your local area, you also have the option to create a new one. Finally, you must enter an e-mail address and a password. Once you have done this, a verification e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address provided, confirming that you wish to register with TennisLadders.NET. Information will then be sent to that e-mail from TennisLadders.NET in the future informing you of any updates that occur.

How to activate your account

Once you have clicked register, an activation e-mail will be sent to your e-mail account. This may have been automatically moved to your junk section so be sure to check there as well, if you don’t receive the e-mail. Open the e-mail and click the large link that will activate your account and will allow you to log in. Once you have done this, you will be sent another e-mail telling you your account details and some of the actions you should perform to help you get started.

How to get started with the site

Once this is done, you are now a member of the site and will enjoy all of the features that the site has to offer. The first thing that you should do is try out the quick challenge feature which will match you against someone of a similar standard and location. They have no obligation to accept and so you can send many of these quick challenges to increase your chance of playing matches. The matches are then scheduled at a mutually agreed time and place, to fit around busy schedules. You will locate the quick challenge button next to a player’s name in your ladder. Other people will also issue quick challenges to you, so be sure to check back regularly to see if you have a match scheduled. Anyone on the ladder can challenge anyone else and it allows points to be scored by everyone in the ladder.

What should I do once we’ve finished the match?

Once the match is completed, the winner must log back on to the site and enter the score of the match. This must be done within 24 hours of match completion or else the match will be become void. If you’ve won, well done you’ll receive 20 points and if you were below the person you challenged, you’ll automatically receive their points total and 20 points more. This will cause you to move up your ladder and be closer to reaching that top spot. You should arrange more matches to be sure that no one over takes you and if you’re at the top, cement your position. If you lost, unlucky I’m sure you’ll do better next time. You will receive 1 point for every game that you won, so if you just lost 7-6 6-7 6-7, you will still receive 19 points. So even if you’re struggling in a match, you should battle for games as you will still receive points for them. This points system allows losers to be rewarded for their performance and people who participate regularly to receive good scores. But ultimately it is those that win that will receive the most points and become top of their ladder.

How do I get more people in my ladder?

The best way to get more people in your ladder is to invite them through social media, e-mail or you can send them a link to the homepage. This is the best way to help grow your ladder as they may invite their friends and the ladder will soon be glowing with activity and match play.
